Analgesics which are also known as painkillers, are the type of drugs that act in a variety of ways to alleviate specific forms of pain in the body. Paracetamol, mild opioids such as codeine, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen and aspirin are common over the counter or non prescribed analgesics used by the general population. Analgesics can change the lives of people by relieving discomfort and allowing them to travel, perform everyday tasks and sustain the amount of exercise required for maintaining good health. Analgesics do, however, pose certain risks, especially if not used with proper caution.
